Jim Overturf

A Brief bio of Jim Overturf…


  • Was born in Lincoln, and lived in eastern Nebraska until he was fifteen years old
  • He moved to Southern California where he finished high school and went to college
  • After college he worked in the aerospace industry for a decade and then migrated to the power generation industry
  • His career included engineering, project management and site construction management
  • He traveled around the world a couple of times in his career
  • He went to his first Indy 500 race in 1953
  • He went to his first NASCAR race in 1967 at Talladega
  • Jim retired in 2004 and began writing Masonville
  • He published Masonville: A Kurt Maxxon Mystery
  • In June 2008 Jim married his long-time friend, editor and advisor
  • Published King Rapids: A Kurt Maxxon Mystery in 2009
  • Published Carpentier Falls: A Kurt Maxxon Mystery in 2010
  • Published Gunning for the Finish: A Kurt Maxxon Mystery in 2011
  • Published Dead Man Talking: An Alisa Sharpe Mystery in early 2014
  • Published Racing to a Dead Stop: A Kurt Maxxon Mystery in 2015
  • Published With All My Heart and Soul: A Swift River Inspirational Romance in 2017

Jim enjoys developing characters and creating fictitious settings with people, places and things that are unique.
